A brief history
I've been designing websites since 1996, mostly in a freelance capacity but also as an employee of the University of Hull's Creative Enterprise Laboratory, managing solo projects and working as part of a small development team. The content of these projects are subject to confidentiality agreements, but examples can be shown on request.
While my strongest skills lie within interface design (hand-coding HTML/CSS, and graphic design with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator), I am an experienced practitioner of user-centred design processes, from competitor research, requirements gathering, wireframing, low-fidelity prototyping, interaction design, visual design, user testing and evaluation.
I have taken up placements as a UX/UI designer for CBeebies and the BBC R&D North Lab, which gave me an excellent opportunity to exercise my UCD skills. I'm also collaborating on some small side projects which include; graphic design for an iOS app, UX consultancy for a web portal refresh and data cleansing as a Subject Matter Expert in web design concepts for a popular online certification company. I was also part of the BBC+ app launch, charged with curating and creating header imagery, and refining requirements for multi-device compatibility.
Due to work and other commitments, my most recent web design project was completed in 2012, and have since been superseded. I intend to refresh this over the next couple of years, when time permits! I'm currently focusing on content and social media platforms.
